Terms of Use

By downloading or using RoomTape you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

What the app does

Measures distances, room outlines and heights using ARKit, and scans rooms into floor plans using RoomPlan on devices with a LiDAR sensor.
Saves the plans you create in the app's own storage on your device.
Calculates material quantities — paint, drywall, flooring, tile, wallpaper, trim — from the rooms you measured.
Exports a plan as a PDF, a CSV of measurements, or a DXF file for CAD, at your request.

Measurements are estimates, not certified survey data. Measurements come from a camera and motion sensors, and on some devices from a LiDAR depth sensor. They are close, not exact. Lighting, reflective or featureless surfaces, fast movement and glass all reduce accuracy. Always check a critical dimension with a physical tape before you cut material, order goods, or commit to a price.

Your licence

You get a personal, non-transferable licence to use RoomTape on devices you own or control, for as long as these terms are observed. You may not resell the app, redistribute it, or attempt to extract its source code.

What is free

Measuring, room scanning, saving up to five plans, the level and the converter are free and do not require a subscription. Plans you have already saved stay open and editable whether or not you subscribe.

Prices are the United States prices and are shown here for reference. The App Store shows the price in your own currency, which may differ.

Payment is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm the purchase.
Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your Apple Account is charged for the renewal within 24 hours of the period ending.
You manage and cancel subscriptions in your Apple Account settings, not in the app. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
Where a free trial is offered, any unused part of it is forfeited if you buy a subscription during the trial.
The lifetime purchase is a one-time payment. It does not renew and is not a subscription.
Refunds are handled by Apple under Apple's own policy. We cannot issue a refund for an App Store purchase — request one through Apple.

Your content

The plans and measurements you create are yours. They stay on your device; we neither hold them nor claim any right to them.

Acceptable use

Do not use RoomTape to break the law, to record or measure people without their knowledge, or in a place where you are not permitted to use a camera. You are responsible for having the right to be where you are measuring.

No warranty, and the limits of our liability

RoomTape is provided "as is". We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or accurate to any particular tolerance.

You are responsible for verifying any measurement before you rely on it. To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for material bought in the wrong quantity, material cut to the wrong size, work quoted at the wrong price, or any other loss arising from a measurement produced by the app. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

Changes to the app and to these terms

Features may be added, changed or removed as the app develops. If these terms change, the effective date above changes and the updated version is published here. Continuing to use the app after that means you accept the new terms.
