By downloading or using Hoot you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
What the app does
- Listens through the microphone during the night and uses Apple's built-in sound classifier, on your device, to find snoring, sleep talking and coughing.
- Saves short audio clips of those moments, a score for each night and a timeline, in the app's own storage on your iPhone.
- If you wear an Apple Watch, runs a quiet night session on it so it can tap your wrist when you snore, and reads which way your wrist is facing.
- Compares your nights with the factors you tick before sleep, such as alcohol or a stuffy nose, to show what changes your snoring.
Your licence
You get a personal, non-transferable licence to use Hoot on devices you own or control, for as long as these terms are observed. You may not resell the app, redistribute it, or attempt to extract its source code.
What is free
Recording every night, the morning score and your three most recent nights are free and do not require a subscription. Premium adds full history, every clip, trends, the factors that change your snoring and sleep position.

Prices are the United States prices and are shown here for reference. The App Store shows the price in your own currency, which may differ.
- Payment is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm the purchase.
- Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your Apple Account is charged for the renewal within 24 hours of the period ending.
- You manage and cancel subscriptions in your Apple Account settings, not in the app. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
- Where a free trial is offered, any unused part of it is forfeited if you buy a subscription during the trial.
- The lifetime purchase is a one-time payment. It does not renew and is not a subscription.
- Refunds are handled by Apple under Apple's own policy. We cannot issue a refund for an App Store purchase. Request one through Apple.
Your content
Your nights, scores and sound clips are yours. They stay on your device; we neither hold them nor claim any right to them.
Health information
Hoot is not a medical device and is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease. Do not use it in place of advice from a doctor. If you think you or someone you sleep next to stops breathing during sleep, see a doctor.
Recording other people
Hoot records sound in the room. If you share the room, tell the other person. You are responsible for following the recording laws where you live.
No warranty, and the limits of our liability
Hoot is provided "as is". We do not warrant that it will detect every snore, or that a Watch tap will stop snoring. To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss arising from use of the app. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
Changes to the app and to these terms
Features may be added, changed or removed as the app develops. If these terms change, the effective date above changes and the updated version is published here. Continuing to use the app after that means you accept the new terms.
