Effective October 29, 2026 ยท Hoot: Snore Recorder & Stop
Hoot listens while you sleep, finds snoring, and can tap your Apple Watch to quiet it. Everything it hears is analysed on your iPhone. There is no account and no server of ours, and no sound ever leaves your device.
Sound is analysed live on your iPhone while a night is running. Only short clips of snoring, talking or coughing are kept, on your device. No audio is uploaded or sent to us or anyone else. Deleting a night deletes its clips; deleting the app deletes everything.
To keep the Watch app awake all night, Hoot starts a workout session, which needs permission to write workouts to Health. Hoot never saves a workout or reads anything from Health. The Watch's motion sensor is read on the Watch to estimate wrist position, and only that position is sent to your iPhone.
Scores, timelines, the factors you tick and the clips stay in the app's storage on your device. They are not backed up to us and we cannot read them.
Purchases are processed by Apple. We use RevenueCat to check whether a subscription is active. RevenueCat receives a random anonymous identifier and the receipt Apple issues, never your recordings or your name.
Everything you create in Hoot is written to the app's own storage on your device. If you have iCloud Backup switched on, Apple may include that storage in your device backup. That is a setting on your iPhone, between you and Apple, and we have no access to it. Deleting the app deletes the nights it holds.
Hoot is not directed at children and collects no personal information from anyone, of any age.
Rights such as access, correction, export and erasure apply to personal data a company holds about you. We hold none: there is no account, no profile, and no server-side record connected to you. Your data is on your device, where you can read, export and delete it yourself at any time. If you would like this confirmed in writing, email us.
Apple processes every purchase and is the merchant of record. Apple's handling of your payment information is covered by Apple's own privacy policy.
RevenueCat tells the app whether a purchase is currently active. It receives a randomly generated identifier and Apple's purchase receipt. It receives nothing you record and nothing that identifies you personally.
If this policy changes, the effective date at the top of this page changes with it, and the updated version is published here.
